昨年のクリスマスのころ、キャサリン妃がシャーロット王女のことをポペット(Poppet)と呼んだことで話題になりました。
ポペットとは、可愛い子の意味で、英国では子供の呼び方として一般的。そして時には恋人に使うこともあります。
ウィリアム王子がキャサリン妃のことをポペットと呼んだと話題になったことも。
そして、今週、息子を連れて北アイルランドのベルファストにあるウィンザー・パーク・スタジアムを訪れた女性が、北アイルランド訪問中のキャサリン妃と会話したそう。
女性がキャサリン妃に、息子の年齢が4歳だと告げると、キャサリン妃は“ロッティ(Lottie)と一緒ね”と答えたといいます。
どうやらキャサリン妃はシャーロット王女のことを“ロッティ”と呼ぶこともあるみたい。
ロッティはシャーロットの愛称としてはとても一般的なもの。
一方で、最近のジョージ王子は家庭でチップス(Tips)と呼ばれているよう。学校でPG(Prince Georgeの頭文字)と呼ばれていることからイギリスの代表的な紅茶ブランド“PG TIPS”にちなんでのこと。
ルイ王子は何と呼ばれるようになるのでしょうね。
